Nutrition & Health

We work hard to offer our customers high-quality, fresh food choices. We’ve provided nutrition information for many years, both in our restaurants and on wendys.com. Through our website, customers can search for nutritional information about a specific menu item or combine items and calculate totals for their meal. We believe this gives our customers a way to plan which menu items fit their personal lifestyle and dietary needs.

Our ingredients are high quality. Our food is wholesome and delicious. We strive to provide food that our customers will not only enjoy themselves, but also food they’ll feel good about serving to their families.

That’s why we freshly prepare many items in our restaurant kitchens, like handmade Pico de Gallo, chili that’s slow simmered every day, lettuce that’s hand-leafed and tomatoes sliced fresh.

Allergies and Food Sensitivities

We’re sensitive to and respectful of our customers who have allergies, or concerns about certain ingredients in their food. We provide allergen information in our restaurants so that customers can easily see which menu items contain eggs, fish, milk, soy, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts. This information is prominently displayed in our restaurants, along with other nutrition information. To view nutritional information for our products, click here.

Real Choices

Yes, you can dine out and still make great choices. Even though we do make an excellent hamburger, Wendy’s also is known for its tasty chicken options, entrée salads and signature sides like chili, baked potatoes and the incomparable Frosty.

Delicious all white meat chicken, fresh apples, berries and 11 types of field greens go into our line-up of salads, creating great taste combinations and flavorful meals.

All of our chicken sandwiches, including the Asiago Ranch Chicken Club sandwich, can be ordered with grilled chicken for a lighter choice.

Nutritious Side Options

Challenges in the Industry

Like others in the restaurant industry, we are aware of the challenges we face as a business.

Sodium

Sodium is a challenge not only to the restaurant industry, but for food manufacturers as well. Finding ways to reduce the level of sodium in our products, without sacrificing the flavor of our food, is an ongoing focus of our Culinary Team. We continually review our menu for improvements we can make, and ask our suppliers to work with us on ways to further enhance our food.

Trans fat

Several years ago, Wendy’s switched to a vegetable cooking oil that contains 0 grams of trans fats.

We also worked with our French fry suppliers to create a blend of oils with 0 grams trans fat to be used in the plants that prepare our French fries so that even before the fries arrive in our restaurants, their trans fat content was significantly decreased. See the nutrition portion of the wendys.com website for the latest information on this and other nutrition topics.

Registered Dietitians

Our Registered and Licensed Dietitians, Patty Wynkoop and Mike Sieminski, work hard to make sure our customers know exactly what they’re eating.

They’re involved not only with the development of our new products, but also with ensuring that nutrition information about those products is accurate and completely available to customers.

In the development of new menu items, Patty and Mike work alongside the Culinary Team, creating nutrition profiles for all our products. They work with the Culinary Team, when possible, to incorporate ingredients that are natural and less-processed. As Wendy’s Chef Gerard says, “ingredients you can pronounce.”

Communicating what those ingredients are is another part of the dietitians’ role.

“We’re responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of all nutrition, allergen and ingredient information, to ensure the accuracy, completeness and regulatory compliance for all publications that go to our customers,” Patty said. That compliance includes federal, state and local regulations which can easily vary from location to location.

To give customers the most current information, our “Build a Meal” tool is on wendys.com. This interactive tool allows customers to customize their favorite meal, and see the nutrition information for each item separately, and for the entire meal. We update the information on the website frequently, so that customers can come back for the most up-to-date nutrition and ingredient information.

Wendys.com also includes complete information regarding allergens, menu items without gluten, and more. Visit the nutrition portion of the site here http://www.wendys.com/food/NutritionLanding.jsp

Nutrition Information/Options

We’ve always been conscious of nutrition

We work hard to offer our customers the freshest and best food choices. We’ve provided nutrition information for many years, both in our restaurants and on our website, wendys.com. There, customers can not only search for information for a specific item, but they can also combine menu items for a total meal tally of nutrition elements. We believe this gives our customer a way to plan which menu items fit their personal lifestyle.

How we inform customers

Menu

It’s important to us that customers know what they’re eating, and the nutrition content of each item on our menu. That’s why we post nutrition information at every restaurant.

We also share nutrition information for every menu item – including Kids’ Meals – on our website, wendys.com. There, customers can not only search for information for a specific item, but they can also combine menu items for a total meal tally of nutrition elements. We believe this gives our customer a way to plan which menu items fit their personal lifestyle.
